Terms of use

Introduction

These terms set out the conditions for using Soranika. The satellite positions, weather, and explanations the service shows are all for reference only, and must not be relied on for navigation or for anything else bearing on safety.

Application

These terms set out the conditions for using Soranika (soranika.com, the service), provided by SYSTEM EMUZU CO.,LTD (we, us).

A user is deemed to have agreed to these terms upon using the service.

The service

The service is provided free of charge.

We may in future charge for all or part of the service, or add paid features. If we do, we will give advance notice in accordance with section 9 (Changes to these terms), and no fee will be charged unless you sign up for it.

We may change, suspend, or discontinue features, data, and the hours during which the service is offered, without notice. The service is provided as is, and we do not guarantee its availability or continuity.

Accounts

Using the service requires signing in with a Google account.

An account is for the use of the person it belongs to. Do not share it with anyone else.

A minor must obtain the consent of a parent or legal guardian before using the service.

Users may stop using the service at any time. To have account information and the observation log erased, follow the procedure set out in section 10 of the privacy policy (Disclosure, correction, deletion, and complaints).

We may suspend an account without prior notice where these terms have been breached or where we otherwise consider it necessary.

Accuracy and restrictions on use

Satellite positions shown by the service are estimated from published orbital elements and carry error. Weather is a third-party forecast. Explanations are generated by an AI and may differ from fact.

All of the above is for reference only. Do not use it for navigation, flight, communications, observation operations, scientific or professional decisions, or anything else bearing on safety or legal rights.

When observing outdoors, take care of your own safety and surroundings, do not obstruct others, and do not enter private land. Times and directions shown are approximate.

Prohibited conduct

Users must not do any of the following.

  • Anything unlawful or contrary to public order and morals
  • Interfering with the operation of the service, including excessive automated access, unauthorised access, and exploiting vulnerabilities
  • Copying, modifying, decompiling, or redistributing the service or its contents, except as permitted by law
  • Infringing the rights of other users or third parties

Intellectual property and sources

Rights in the screens, text, and design of the service belong to us or to the respective rights holders.

Orbital elements, astronomical data, Earth imagery, and weather forecasts are supplied by third parties. Sources and credits are listed in the credits panel within the service.

The service includes third-party material provided under open licenses. For such material, the terms of the applicable license govern, and the restrictions on reproduction, modification, and redistribution set out in the Prohibited conduct section do not apply. The material concerned and its terms are listed in the credits panel and in the third-party notices.

Scope of liability

We are not liable for loss arising from special circumstances, or for lost profits, suffered by a user through the use of, or inability to use, the service.

The preceding paragraph applies only where we have acted with ordinary negligence. It does not apply to our wilful misconduct or gross negligence.

Personal data

Personal data in the service is handled as set out in the privacy policy.

Changes to these terms

We may revise these terms. A revision applies from the moment it is published on this page.

Where a revision is disadvantageous to users, we will set the date on which it takes effect and publish both the revised text and that date on this page in advance.

Assignment and severability

Users may not assign or pledge to a third party their position under these terms, or any right or obligation arising from them, without our prior consent.

If any provision of these terms, or part of one, is held invalid or unenforceable by law, the remaining provisions remain in effect.

Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by the laws of Japan.

Any dispute between us and a user in connection with the service is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction, in the first instance, of the court with jurisdiction over the location of our head office.

Language

This English text is provided for convenience. Where it differs from the Japanese version, the Japanese version prevails.
