Introduction
SYSTEM EMUZU CO.,LTD (we, us) sets out below how we handle personal data in Soranika (soranika.com, the service).
Who provides this service
The service is provided by the following operator.
- Name — SYSTEM EMUZU CO.,LTD
- Address — 5628-35 Kasaoka, Kasaoka-shi, Okayama 714-0081, Japan
- Representative — Yokota Shinya, Representative Director
- Developed and operated by — Hori Norio
- Contact — soranika@emuzu.net
Scope
This policy applies to the service as provided at soranika.com.
We offer the service to users in Japan, and we store the data we collect in Japan (the AWS Tokyo region). We do not restrict access from outside Japan, but we do not direct the service at any country or region other than Japan.
What we collect
We collect the following information.
- Account information — the user identifier and email address provided by Google when a user signs in with a Google account. We do not collect names or profile pictures.
- Observation log — the objects a user has viewed, the date and time, the view used, the display language, and the depth of the explanation. Stored against the user identifier.
- Location — location read from the user device, with browser permission, in order to calculate what is overhead and the weather. We do not store it against the user identifier.
- Usage records — counters used to enforce usage limits, the time the service was last used (other users are told only that someone is present), and server logs.
The camera image, used when holding the device up to the sky, is shown on the device only. It is not sent to our servers and is not stored.
Purposes of use
We use the data we collect only for the following purposes.
- Signing users in and identifying their accounts
- Displaying the observation log and generating its recap
- Calculating what is overhead, upcoming passes, and the weather
- Limiting excessive use and controlling the cost of generation
- Investigating faults and improving the service
Third parties and external services
We do not sell the data we collect. We do not disclose it to third parties except with the consent of the person concerned or where required by law.
We do rely on the following external services to provide Soranika.
- Amazon Web Services (Tokyo region) — storage and processing
- Amazon Bedrock (Anthropic Claude) — generating explanations and satellite voices. What we send is limited to context such as the object name, the depth of the explanation, and the display language, and contains nothing that identifies a user.
- Google — sign-in authentication
- MET Norway (Locationforecast) — weather. What we send is limited to rounded coordinates and contains nothing that identifies a user.
Of these, our use of Amazon Web Services and Amazon Bedrock is entrustment of the handling of personal data and does not constitute provision to a third party. Google is the party providing information to us at sign-in, and what we send to MET Norway contains nothing that identifies a user.
How location is handled
We use location read from the device only to calculate what is overhead and the weather, and we do not store it against the user identifier.
What we store on the server is limited to a shared cache keyed to a point rounded to approximately 0.1 degrees of latitude and longitude (about 11 kilometres). That cache exists to make responses efficient and is not used as a record of where anyone was.
AI generation
Explanations and satellite voices are generated by Claude on Amazon Bedrock.
What we send for generation is limited to context such as the object name, the depth of the explanation, and the display language. The processing runs on Amazon Bedrock inference routes inside Japan (Tokyo and Osaka), and traffic between those regions travels over the private AWS network.
Generated text is for reference only, and we do not guarantee its accuracy. See section 4 of the terms of use (Accuracy and restrictions on use).
Cookies and browser storage
We use a single cookie, which keeps a user signed in.
Display language and other display settings are stored in the browser (localStorage) and are not sent to our servers.
We use no cookies for advertising or behavioural analytics, and we therefore do not ask for cookie consent.
The service also embeds no mechanism that causes a user device to transmit information to third parties, such as advertising or analytics tags. Every file needed to render the screen, including the typefaces and the Earth imagery, is served by us.
Retention
We retain the data we collect for the following periods.
- Observation log — retained until deletion is requested. It does not expire automatically.
- Presence record — approximately four hours
- Usage counters — the current day only
- Server logs — up to one year
Disclosure, correction, deletion, and complaints
Requests for disclosure, correction, suspension of use, or deletion of the personal data we hold, and complaints about our handling of personal data, should be sent to soranika@emuzu.net.
Please send your request from the email address registered to your account. We treat a match between the sending address and the address on the account as confirmation that the request comes from you, and we respond within a reasonable period.
Deletion of your account can also be requested, while signed in to the service, from the counter placed in this section of this page. In that case we treat the fact that you are signed in as confirmation that the request comes from you. You may withdraw the request at the same counter at any time before we carry it out, and we do not carry it out within 7 days of the request.
We accept such requests through the same channel regardless of the country or region in which the user resides.
On a deletion request we erase the account information and the observation log. Generated text held in the shared cache, and rounded location points, are not associated with any individual and are therefore not subject to erasure.
Server logs are kept for fault investigation and security. They are not erased individually; they are deleted when their retention period (up to one year) expires.
Deleting your account
While signed in, you can also request deletion at this counter.
Use by children
The service includes a kids mode. The mode does not change what we collect.
Using the service requires a Google account, so the age requirements set by Google apply. Children should use the service under the supervision of a parent or guardian.
Security
We encrypt all traffic over HTTPS. The APIs that return the observation log and similar data respond only to requests from the signed-in account. Operational access rights are limited to the minimum necessary.
We store the data we collect in the AWS Tokyo region. We do not locate storage outside Japan.
Changes to this policy
We may revise this policy. A revision applies from the moment it is published on this page.
Language
This English text is provided for convenience. Where it differs from the Japanese version, the Japanese version prevails.
